1. Individual Report (75%) – Assessment and Recommendations for Corporate Entrepreneurship
Your learning task is to identify an existing corporate organisation of your choice and:
a) undertake an assessment of this organization’s experience of, successes in and support for corporate entrepreneurship i.e. entrepreneurial behaviours within the corporate setting
b) based upon this assessment, offer recommendations which will help this organisation become more entrepreneurial.
Selected organisations should be ESTABLISHED (at least 5 years) and should NOT be start-up ventures (ie: small scale, non-corporate structures).
You should expect to undertake the following as part of this assignment:
 Primary research, taken in the form of any of the below:
a) A minimum of 5-6 interviews with members from the selected corporate organisation or
b) A minimum of 20 responses to the EML survey which will be distributed within the selected corporate organisation or
c) A minimum of 20 responses to a survey which you can create by adapting the original EML survey or
d) A combination of (a)+ (b) or (a) +(c).
Your research tools (surveys or interview agendas) have to be informed by relevant EML frameworks and theories
 Secondary research, which includes reviewing information made available from the website, the annual report, press releases and media coverage of the corporate organisation, regarding its history, current strategy, organizational structure, culture, innovation process and previous experiences of entrepreneurial activities.
 Drawing from the EML reading lists and relevant literature recommended and as taught in class to assist in the evaluation of the selected organisation and, based upon this, inform the recommendations you offer to develop. Recommended reading will also provide a helpful resource for the successful completion of this assignment
 Evaluating the situation of the organisation and proposing recommendations which can help it to be more entrepreneurial including an appropriate entrepreneurial strategy which can implemented.
You should produce an individual report (max. 3000 words) which outlines the involvement of the selected organisation in entrepreneurial activities and the offered recommendations regarding how the organisation can improve its competitive position by becoming more entrepreneurial. The report should contain relevant details, examples and references, highlighted by the indicative structure below:
 Title
 Introduction (Aims, methods and assumptions)
 Company background and industry context
 Assessment of corporate entrepreneurship practices, culture, intensity
 Forms of corporate entrepreneurship used currently and in the past
 Evaluation of organizational setting (HR, strategy, structure and culture) and assessment of how these factors have helped or hindered corporate entrepreneurial activities
 Identification of any corporate entrepreneurs/catalysts and activities in which they have been involved
 Identification of current challenges faced and how entrepreneurial activities, management and leadership may help overcome these
 Recommendations for appropriate ways to implement entrepreneurial management and leadership in the future

Marking Criteria for Individual reports
In marking these reports, the following criteria will be used:
 Content: does the report provide all necessary information on the selected corporate organisation relative to its current support for entrepreneurial behaviours and activities? (20%)
 Analysis: does the report draw upon relevant EML frameworks, theories and research to present a robust analysis of the selected corporate organisation? Does this analysis move beyond the descriptive and is it used to inform the development of subsequent recommendations? (20%)
 Validity of Recommendations: are these informed by the analysis presented and by knowledge of EML acquired during this class? Given the organisation selected, are these recommendations achievable (please take into consideration the organisation’s current resource base and culture) (20%)
 Research Evidence: does the report provide clear evidence which supports the analysis and recommendations presented? (20%)
 Professionally Presented & Structured: is the report well presented with a clear structure and is it easy to read and follow? Also, does the presentation include appropriate referencing? (20%)
2. Individual Learning/Reflective Summary (25%)
Having completed the EML class, please reflect upon your learning, by identifying one key lesson that you learned.
 Please use this to comment on how you will use this lesson to progress your career in the future (in terms of professional practice, or personal development)
 Please restrict your submission to 1 A4 page (Font 12), and write it in the form of an executive summary.
An ideal format would be:
a) Lesson learned (One paragraph comprising 2-3 key sentences)
b) How to apply it (Three paragraphs comprising 5-6 bullet points)
